Antihelix, Stem, Underdeveloped

Definition:

Subjective: Decreased protrusion of the antihelical ridge, proximal to its bifurcation, relative to the prominence of a normal helix (Fig. a,b)

Comments:

This finding is highly variable, and the range is illustrated in the figure to the right. The degree of prominence is attributable to the volume of the cartilage and/or the acuteness of the folding angle. Interpretation of degree of antihelical prominence may be difficult when the conchal anatomy is distorted, for example a Cupped ear.
